Jayden joined the Rolston Lab in early February 2026 while completing his senior year of high school. His research focuses on renewable energy, particularly improving the reliability and durability of solar panels through in-situ curvature measurement of laminated perovskite photovoltaic modules and its relationship to device stability. He has worked extensively on developing and stabilizing an automated laser triangulation measurement system with automated homing capabilities, including full motor control, device communication, and control software and user interface improvements to enable robust, repeatable, high-resolution curvature measurements across full photovoltaic modules. His recent work has focused on improving measurement robustness through mechanical settling strategies, bounded retry logic, and repeatability validation, achieving sub-micron point noise and significantly improving scan reliability. Jayden is interested in electrical engineering, particularly in semiconductor devices, photovoltaic reliability, and precision measurement systems. Outside of the lab, Jayden enjoys developing video games in Godot, building websites, teaching SAT bootcamps, volunteering and organizing large events, bouldering, and spending time with friends and family.
