Jose Ocampo joined the Rolston Lab during the summer of 2026 through the NNCI Research Experience for Undergraduates. During this time, he created a streamline Ultraviolet (UV) aging set-up and characterized degradation due to UV exposure on Perovskite. Prior to this he conducted his initial studies at Maricopa Community Colleges where he participated in Phoenix College NASA Ascend weather balloon program where instruments controlled by a microcontroller collect data from the atmosphere. Additionally, Jose is 13F Forward Observer in the Arizona Army National Guard and deployed with 1-158th “Bushmasters” Infantry Battalion to Iraq during Operation Inherent Resolve 2023-2024. Jose enjoys many recreational hobbies. One of his hobbies is working on his 1995 Nissan Hardbody. He also enjoys keeping tropical fish tanks such as Corydoras and Guppies. Additionally, he conducts recreational marksmanship shooting and plans to compete in the future. Be sure to ask him about his music taste!
